Annual Report 2020/2021
The Presidents annual Report
Good evening everyone who has joined us for our 15th birthday meeting, it's a little different this year no cake or treats and we're on zoom due to covid 19. Our year started with
February and everyone had a new sunflower badge made by Janet, we was also given a green heart for love made by the committee, and enjoyed the lovely cake made by Janet. We had a talk from Rainbows hospice which gave us all an insight to what they do for children and their families with life threatening diseases.
March came with covid 19 and our meetings in person were put on hold. Little did we know what was in store.
April we were in lockdown so again no meeting but a card was sent to us all with best wishes to everyone.
May came with a quiz being sent out to everyone .
June still no meetings, another card was sent to everyone with well wishes and an easing of lockdown, hoping to start meeting up again very soon. A face mask was sent out to you all made by Elizabeth and answers to last month quiz.
July and we managed a virtual afternoon tea on zoom, a few hiccups but we enjoyed seeing each other especially Eileen's French cake.
August and the years just flying by some of us are now able to get out to the shops but keeping alert. We did another zoom meeting with a quiz.
September came and were still being alert, you were all sent an activity to do which we hoped you enjoyed doing .
October another zoom meeting which we're getting better at, We had a talk from Bob Gow about Bestwood Village and the history of mining.
November and were back in lockdown again, another zoom meeting with a talk from Steve Herra speaking to us about Murder through the porthole which I think everyone enjoyed, we discussed if the gentleman in question was guilty or not. We laid a wreath of knitted poppies at the cenotaph for remembrance Sunday.
December no party but a very enjoyable meeting with Bingo, Quiz, Raffle plus a small gift bag for everyone to help celebrate Christmas.
January came and were still in lockdown zoom meeting with Steve Herra again speaking to us about the fun and facts about the P & O liners.
That's brings us back to this evening and before I go I would like to thank everyone for joining us on zoom and giving it a try and huge thankyou to the committee for all their help and ideas over this extraordinary year and lets hope it won't be to long before we can start meeting in person again
