26/3/2014 0 Comments Action For ChildrenOur monthly meeting last night was a busman's holiday for one of our members. Clair Marshall works in the area of children's services and knew our speaker well as they have previously worked together. Andy Legge gave a passionate talk about the plight of some children in the UK. He explained how the charity "Action for Children" works tirelessly to support vulnerable children and give them the chance to fulfill their true potential as young adults.
He certainly inspired us all to do our bit to support their work, by collecting used stamps, old mobile phones and putting our loose change into his cute collection boxes. Thank you Andy for opening our eyes to the needs of people on our own doorstep and showing us the little things we can all do to help.

6/3/2014 0 Comments President in PeterboroughOur newly re-elected President, Brenda Langsdale, travelled to Peterborough along with other Nottinghamshire Federation Presidents for a National Conference. Gatherings like this will be taking place all over the country in an effort to inspire our Trustees and Presidents to take forward the positive messages about the WI in the twenty-first century. The message "The WI is what you make of it" was everywhere and BVWI are certainly an example of that. We look forward to Brenda's feedback from the conference at our next committee meeting and general members meeting.
